A big week and a half on the Bay Window resto. Vents have been filled in, rust has been cut out and replaced with new metal. Plenty of sanding and prepping for undercoating. All doors, bumpers and odds 'n' ends all now undercoated. Body to be undercoated in the coming days, then sanding for colour topcoat!

And the restoration begins! A day of stripping down this 1974 VW Kombi Camper and assessing body repairs to be done. Pulling a vehicle to pieces and back to a bare shell is always fun! Giving this cosy kamper some new metal, rubbers and a fresh coat of paint - it's gonna look a million dollars!!
Stay tuned for progress updates!

Want to know more about us...
We are a husband and wife team who both absolutely love Kombi's. We bought our first Kombi together in 2007, a few months after we met, our second - but first 'splitty' (get excited) in 2010! Then after we (mainly Adrian) did it up a bit for our wedding, people loved it so much they would stop us in the street and ask to hire it for their wedding's... and so we created Hunter Valley Vee Dubs.
Adrian didn't stop here though, seeing the potential and no to mention, having the opportunity to do what he loves - restoring (or as we like to call it, 'saving') Kombi's, we have since added two more buses to the fleet, with another on the way!!! Some we have partly done up, like the Blue and Maroon ones, but the Grey and 'under construction' all Blue Kombi's are completely restored by Adrian, motor and all.
We really love the vintage and elegant looking Kombi's and feel doing them up this way really appreciates them and their history. All colours are original 'Kombi Colours' but the interior is more elegant than the typical grey most buses were fitted out with.

A few solid all-nighters in running cables, wheels re-painted, gearbox and reduction hubs oil changed, digital gauges installed, electrics finished and engine completed and installed........ I now have a Splitty I can drive in and out of the man-shed :) All that's left is to fit new brake shoes and bleed the brake system then it's road testing time!!!!!! Thanks to my darling wife Casey Smith for putting up with my ridiculous obsession! I admit I have a problem :) Adrian.
